Spill Kits are standard as a means for meeting the environmental spill response requirements of State and Local governments. Since 1996, Chatoyer Environmental has been providing a range of SpilMax Spill Kits based on our experience of what component selection can provide the optimum response in the case of your spill incident. We have also worked with multiple organisations to create custom Spill Kits to best meet our client’s needs.

WHAT LIQUIDS DO I NEED TO CONTAIN?

Our Spill Kits are designed to be adjusted to suit your specific requirements and are generally available in three types of kits:

Spillkit_oilangle.jpg.ashxOil & Fuel Spill Kits include hydrophobic sorbents which repel water, therefore enabling the absorption of oil and fuel based products around water, without absorbing the water itself. Ideal for outdoor use and where oil & fuels are the main and likely contaminant such as hydraulic hoses, fuel stores and marinas.

Spill KitsUniversal (General Purpose) Spill Kits are designed to absorb a wider range of liquids including oils, fuels, water, coolant, general workplace chemical and common agricultural chemicals. They are generally used in applications which include a variety of risks and contaminants. As Universal sorbents also absorb water, they are not recommended for oil on water spills.

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF YOUR POTENTIAL SPILL?

A spill kit should be selected by the amount of liquid it can contain and/or absorb. Our spill kits are available in:

HOW MANY SPILL KITS DO I NEED?

The quantity is based on the risks specific to each site. The vulnerable and high risk areas need to be identified initially and with a suitable spill kit located no more than 30m away from the possible threat. The risks can be both outside (transport areas and storage zones) and inside (manufacturing facilities, forklift stores) a workplace.

WHAT TO DO IN THE CASE OF A SPILL?

Follow the steps outlined in your spill kit. You may also refer to your organisation’s spill response policy.
